• 1955 – ATP is founded in Chicago, Illinois
ATP (Automatic Transmission Parts) is founded on July 1, 1955 to serve a growing need for automatic transmission replacement parts. The company begins in a modest 2,000 sq. ft. facility in Chicago, focused on supplying quality components to the emerging automatic transmission aftermarket.
Growing with the Automatic Transmission Market
• 1960s – Rapid growth in transmission parts
As automatic transmissions become more common, ATP expands its offering of replacement parts and filter kits and builds a reputation as a trusted specialist in the category.
Expanding Product Coverage
• 1970s – Broader catalog and better availability
ATP continued to grow its catalog, adding additional transmission components and improving distribution coverage so jobbers and distributors can access a more complete solution from a single supplier.

The ATP program grows to include exhaust and intake manifold kits, pans, flywheels, ring gears, and additional driveline components, providing more complete under-hood and under-car coverage for customers.
• 2001 – Launch of Graywerks™️ by ATP
ATP introduces the Graywerks™️ by ATP line, leveraging its engineering and manufacturing expertise to expand into manifolds and related engine components while maintaining its core strength in transmission products.
ATP Automotive Brand & Joining Pioneer
• 2010s – Evolution into ATP Automotive
The brand evolves into ATP Automotive, reflecting a broader product offering that now spans transmission, engine, and related service components while staying true to its transmission heritage.
